I know that winter is not here, but this week has certainly felt like it and the urge to stay cocooned in Deau Towers has been very tempting indeed.
Luckily for me, I was offered the opportunity to spend my otherwise gloomy Tuesday evening sampling the Christmas delights at the Chocolate Quarter, Birmingham. It would have been foolish to say no.
After short stroll from Jewellery Quarter station, I arrived at an inviting “chocolate box ” shop, to be greeted by a glorious melting pot of smells and an array of beautiful hand crafted chocolates. I was definitely curious.
I was presented with a mysterious hot chocolate containing cacao butter and is made from blocks of chocolate rather than traditional powder..
Along with the other lucky souls, I was treated to a selection box containing 9 Christmas chocolates, ranging from a Christmas Pudding through to a Hot Butter Gin. The samples were delicious and you could certainly taste the unique flavour combinations.
After this tiresome task, we we were set to work to make our own chocolate bar, we were provided with the key ingredients and off we set. The group were seamlessly led through the process; the whole time we were kept on the right tracks and offered words of encouragement!
Chatting to this lovely family, you realise that they are passionate about chocolate; the ingredients they use, the taste and presentations of their wares.
This wonderful shop has so much to offer and not just for Christmas.
I would absolutely take some time out and visit this amazing little shop, you will not be disappointed, I know that I wasn’t.
